Course Overview

Your mandatory ticket onto every Australian construction site

A construction worker must have completed general construction induction training β€” commonly known as the White Card β€” before being permitted to commence work on a construction site. This is a mandatory requirement across Australia.

If you have never worked in the construction industry before, or you have lost your White Card, this is the course for you.

This course introduces you to (or refreshes) the current health and safety legislative requirements, personal awareness, and the basic principles of risk management for working in the construction industry β€” so you can work safely and prevent injury or harm to yourself and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies, and correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE).

Regulatory note: This unit meets the general construction induction training requirements of the Model Work Health and Safety Regulations (Part 1.1 and Part 6.5) and corresponding state provisions. Licensing and certification requirements vary by state and territory β€” the relevant WHS regulator should be consulted to confirm jurisdictional requirements. Site-specific induction training is expected to be conducted prior to commencing construction work.
