This qualification reflects the role of professionals in the accounting and bookkeeping industry — including business activity statement (BAS) agents, contract bookkeepers, and employees performing bookkeeping tasks across a range of industries. It covers preparing and lodging business and instalment activity statements, data processing, monthly reconciliations, budgets, financial performance reports, end-of-year adjustments and finalising financial records.
BAS agent pathway: Persons providing a BAS service for a fee must be registered with the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB). This qualification is currently cited as meeting the TPB education requirements for registration as a BAS agent (other requirements apply, including a designated period of experience — check current requirements with the TPB).
This course is delivered face-to-face at our Truganina VIC campus and at our ACT delivery location. 20 hours per week of classroom delivery mixing practical and theoretical components, with workplace practices regularly simulated for skills-based assessment. You’ll receive learner guides, self-study guides, session plans and a Student Assessment Booklet per unit. Assessment methods include written questions, projects, case studies, role plays, research and reports — completed in class and in your own time.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): If you have already gained the skills and experience for a unit or the entire qualification, you can apply for RPL by providing evidence of previous training, employment experience or other relevant skills. Successful applications may reduce training time and, where significant credit is granted, course fees and duration.
Credit Transfer (CT): All students can apply for credit transfer for units already completed with another RTO or authorised issuing organisation, verified against AQF certification documents or USI transcripts. Our Student Support Officer will guide you through the process.
On successful completion you will be awarded the Testamur for FNS40222 Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping together with a Record of Results detailing all units completed. On partial completion, a Statement of Attainment is issued for the units achieved.
