Course Overview

Start your career in the security industry

This qualification is for security guards and crowd control staff as new entrants to the industry — and for those returning to the sector after an absence. It reflects the role of a security officer responsible for maintaining safety and security by patrolling, protecting or guarding property while unarmed, screening entry, monitoring behaviour and removing persons from premises.

The course provides the skills, knowledge and attributes to work as an unarmed security officer, crowd controller, loss prevention officer, mobile security officer, and control room / CCTV operative.

Licensing alignment: This qualification is intended to align with the occupational licensing outcomes of security officer – unarmed guard and security officer – crowd controller. The Victoria Security Licence course is subject to Victoria Police LDR regulatory conditions and mandated assessment requirements. On completion, students apply to the Licensing Regulation Division (LRD), including fingerprint and police checks.
